Battle of Alberta on Hockey Night in Canada

Pop some popcorn, grab a few beers and get settled in for one hell of a game tonight.  It’s the Oilers at Calgary on Hockey Night in Canada tonight, and if Monday’s game was any indication, it is going to be a violent, aggressive and intense game.  The Oilers smacked the Flames down 5-0 on Monday, with a total 34 penalty minutes for the Oilers and 49 minutes for the Flames.  At the start of the third period, Stortini and Regehr got five minute majors for fighting ONE SECOND INTO THE PERIOD.

It was a really fun game to watch, and I hope it goes the same way tonight.  Mathieu Garon is  in the net and he’s been an incredible asset to the team.  I really like Rollie, and hope he can be patient down the stretch.  I know he gets pissed when he doesn’t start (hell, all athletes are like that, I think), but MacT has to ride the hottest goalie, and right now, it’s Garon.  Hell, the guy had 40 saves against Chicago on Wednesday.

The Oilers really need this game: the team is tied for 12th place with St. Louis (who have been really good lately) at 55 points, and Calgary is tied for 7th with Nashville at 62.
